Stress and the Body: Somatic Tools for Returning to Wholeness with Laura McKellin
The root word “soma” is Greek for body. Somatic psychology is a field of psychology that works holistically focusing on the body + it’s movements to create fast and long-lasting results impacting the body, mind, and soul. Join Laura in this two and a half- hour workshop, as she takes you on a journey into the neuroscience of stress and how it relates to movement and our personal + collective growth. We will explore somatic techniques that have scientifically been proven to rewire your brain and reorganize how your nervous system performs.
Through the yoga practice, we can experience deep insights into who we are and how we relate to the world around us. Yet, we often don’t take the time to process the content that gets unearthed through the inner wisdom of the body when we step off the mat and into our lives. Through a guided, unique experiential practice, this workshop will help you understand the inner mechanisms of stress and how you can use your yoga practice as an embodied form of inquiry into your own nervous system and relationship to stress.
